July 10, 2008

The Institute's Metal Hammer Weekend, sponsored by the industry's No. 1 metal magazine, Metal Hammer, is happening this August in London, England — two full-on days for participants to get those metal chops up to warp speed. Not only will you get the best tuition from the Institute's own metal gurus, Martin Goulding and Charlie Griffiths from LINEAR SPHERE, you will also get an amazing opportunity to learn from some of the giants of metal who will be dropping in to play and share their experiences. And like all Institute courses, it's all about playing so there will also be plenty of time to shred to your heart's content!

The guests who have confirmed the will be dropping in during the weekend include:

* Tom and Dan from ARCHITECTS, who will be treating everyone present to an exclusive preview of their new album, which isn't due out until January 2009!

* Steve Smyth from TESTAMENT and NEVERMORE, who will host an exclusive two-hour masterclass. Steve has played on the biggest festival stages with the biggest names in metal which give him a unique perspective and experiences.

* Carl Dawkins, bassist from CINDERS FALL and SINTUITION, two of the UK's biggest up-and-coming thrash metal bands. Carl will be joining the Institute's awesome house band leading a jam session giving you the experience of playing with a top rhythm section.
The course takes place on August 16-17 and will give participants a complete workout for building up the skills needed to tackle the most demanding elements of this style.
